More About Curio Travel—Where your curiosity becomes your compass
I'm Jeanne, the Master Designer of journeys for people who want to feel something when they travel.
My path here was unconventional: I studied Studio Art, Art History, and Mathematics (yes, really), earned an MFA in Drawing and Painting, then added an MBA because apparently I like collecting degrees. Before discovering my true calling, I spent years in construction—managing projects, running my own company, and overseeing 3,000+ public housing units for a major East Coast city.
I was building structures. But my heart was building dreams of somewhere else.
Everything changed on a flight to Auckland, where I met a Kiwi who would become my husband. That chance encounter led us to central New Hampshire, where I taught Critical Thinking and Art History at a private college. But textbooks couldn't compete with the pull of the world outside, and I soon launched my first travel agency, specializing in Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
Over the years, I've explored every state and territory of Australia, driven the length of New Zealand by car, bus, plane, and boat, and built relationships with locals that transform how my clients experience these places.
Fifteen years and too many snowstorms later (May snowfall was the final straw), I relocated to coastal North Carolina and founded Curio Travel. What began with perfecting Down Under journeys has expanded to European river cruises, intimate small-ship adventures, and curated group tours—for travelers who refuse to settle for generic.
I don't do cookie-cutter itineraries. I create experiences that match your curiosity, your pace, your sense of wonder.
Let's explore what's possible for your next adventure.
P.S. You won't find my selfies from exotic locations all over social media—I'd rather showcase the memories my clients create on the journeys we design together.
